No one knows exactly how long this race has been around, but they are several millennia old at least. No one knows the real name for them or their planet as it has been long forgotten.
At one time, this peaceful race made of energy, often referred to as Aura Users, numbered in the billions. There were the light aura users, and the dark, but they all always managed to live their lives in harmony.
They all had their natural element they were best at, and all did their job in caring for their world. The world in return cared for them, provided them what they needed; shelter, energy, healing, peace of mind.
The air caretakers brought in the cool summer breezes and clouds, and prevented many severe storms in the sky they lived in.
The water clans used clouds for rain and snow to maintain the change of the seasons and the oceans and rivers by which they lived.
Earthen tribes lived in the forests and were responsible for the plants that grew and to control the shifts in the mantle, preventing any unwanted volcanic activity.
The fire clans brought the warmer breezes of spring and made sure any volcanic eruptions remained in the region they belonged to, and not bleed into the others around it.
Lastly, the spiritual caretakers, those strongest in their connection with aura, maintained order and wildlife on the planet, as well as taking responsibility of the aura stones. They lived in the main region, where all the others met at one point.
It was at this meeting point that the race first started millions of years ago, and where the planet chose to give them their first gift in exchange for their care. It shifted day and night for many days before it finally settled. In this place was the first and largest natural city of the planet.
It had created cloud temples for the air caretakers, underwater homes for the water clans, huge trees and hollowed out caves brightened by glowing stones for the earthen tribes, houses of obsidian and lava for the fire clans, and homes of aura crystals for the spiritual caretakers.
Most of the people lived and grew in this city, but it was not long before some of the dark aura users started getting out of line. Many of them pulled pranks, or were outright rude and cruel, though not so much it would be a crime.
A lot of the city folk tried to take matters into their own hands, but only seemed to make things worse, and then people began to fight more and more, some even trying to take charge of the city.
The planet would simply not have it. It summoned an aura storm, the race's first encounter with something that could do great harm to them. The storm raged for days as many of the people's hearts were filled with bitterness.
One of the women from the spiritual clans, a light violet aura user called Siri, drew up the courage to walk into the storm to the center of the town where a tree of pure aura energy stood. Siri sat on her knees and pleaded to the planet's spirit to end the storm. The planet refused and only strengthened it.
Siri then asked what they could do to end it. The planet answered that order must be maintained between the clans as well as the light and dark users, and for this, a leader is needed. Not just any leader, but one pure of heart, caring of their people, and able to handle such responsibilities that came with it.
When asked who, the tree glowed brighter than it ever had and gave temporary shelter over the city so that the others could come out to hear what was to be said. It chose Siri because it knew she met the demands, and could see that her drive for peace was greater than anything that could corrupt or frighten her.
The people agreed. Siri was only a young girl in their society, but was indeed kind, gentle, but could be determined without going overboard when she needed to be. She was skilled is most areas of aura, and was especially talented in reading another's aura.
Siri became the first queen of their world, and led her people for several thousand years. Over that time, she encouraged many small groups to go out in search of other races with abilities like theirs. Most of these searches turned up nothing, only primitive life forms if that.
Some discovered sentient races, and attempted to communicate peacefully. This was not a difficult process thanks to the telepathy they had developed, but not all of the ones they met liked outsiders or were overly aggressive.
It was upon these discoveries Siri decided that aura wasn't meant for evil purposes, but to enrich one's life and create harmony. She made it clear that aggressive races were to be left alone, as they would pay for it later if they didn't. As for the more peaceful ones, she went to them in person and attempted to teach aura.
This was when aura stones were beginning to be used to their full potential. Siri learned how each stone was linked to a specific aura, and how and why it changed the way it did when it met its owner. Using this new tool, she and many others taught other races what aura was and how it could be used. This decision brought huge success and cultural trades among the peoples.
After a few decades of this, Siri realized she spent less and less time on her own home world, and had even less time to look after her people. She stepped down from command and allowed her eldest daughter, Muri, take over.
When Muri's rule began, the teachings of aura had already crossed fifteen different races and were expanding with each new discovery. She developed the majority of their justice system. A simple one really; anyone caught pulling pranks or making acts of considerable harm was to be put in a cell of strong aura energy for however long justified the severity of the so called crime.
Muri's twin sister, Rune, accepted that she would not be taking the high seat, and went off to work with aura stones with her mother.
Muri reigned for a term longer than her mother's, and began feeling stressed and cramped from staying in the city all the time. She decided to devote her time into meditation after realizing she could become corrupt and allowed Aurora to take charge.
Aurora was much like her grandmother with her bright and kind heart, and her joy in taking care of her people. Every day was spent out in the city, meeting with every face young and old, bright and dark alike. Everyone grew to like and respect Aurora as a friend as well as their queen.
During her time, Aurora suggested that young users (around 150 years old, equivalent of a 15 year old human) go out to explore the universe for themselves. Not way far away, of course, but meet with the other races they knew and mature in their own time.
Her twin sister, Akki, spent her days in her room gloomily looking out the window. Her aura was a dull copy of her sister's bright purple, and often refused company or self-care. Aurora always made time for her sister as well, and tried to cheer her up, but was blocked from Akki's mind. She knew her sister was upset, but over what she could not read. This carried on for a few hundred years, during which Claire and Luna were born and raised beyond their maturing years. It was also during this time shocking news was received.
Recent developments in aura allowed the aura users to shape shift, provided they had an aura stone. An accident during one of the training sessions caused Siri's stone to shatter while she was in another form, and she died before anyone could figure out how to save her.
Muri and Rune, although full of grief and shock that death was a quite real possibility, took on the task of training aura in their mother's place. It was several years after this time Rei was born, and was off on her own journey to maturity.
Aurora was saddened at the news as well, but she still put on a bright and cheery face for her people and kept them calm to prevent panic. Akki refused to let Aurora anywhere near her at this point.
Her aura was no longer dull, but a sharp dark purple. The gloom on her face was replaced by plotting grins. The fact that she would never rule the people chipped away at her mind until she grew near-insane. Jealousy eventually corrupted her soul beyond redemption, and she began to plan how she would one day get that power.
Kristy was born a decade later, and was still too young to leave home when Akki began setting plans in motion. While her sister was out with the people during the day, Akki would slip away to the prison cells and convince as many of the users there as she could to join her in overthrowing the queen. Many agreed because it was in their nature to break the rules, but some needed further convincing which would come into play during the final stages of her plan.
Aurora had a baby girl a few months later and made an aura stone necklace for her, hoping it would bring her luck and protect her from harm. She did not name the child for several days though; something nagged at her to wait. She was getting visions from her world's spirit about two races they had previously deemed unable to learn aura due to their aggressive natures.
The visions were always the same one; a young human girl being trained by 7-foot tall split-jaw aliens. The names of these races slipped her mind, but she had seen them before. In the last vision she received, she saw the young girl learning to use her aura abilities, and the name Kira repeated over and over. The name stuck and that's what she named her daughter.
A week later around midnight, Aurora was awoken by several shrieks in the city. Looking out her window, she saw many of the current prisoners had escaped and were deliberately trying to break the stones of many people. Checking her sister's room, she found she had gone, and feared the worst.
She took her daughter and located Claire, Luna, Rei, and Kristy deep in the forest region. She tasked the four with protecting her daughter and getting as far from the planet as possible if anyone became a threat to them.
Aurora returned to the city with her husband to take on the dark aura users and found that Akki was the one causing all of the death and destruction around them. Even worse, she found Akki had murdered their own mother and aunt in the battle.
Lacking battle training, many fell without getting a chance, and the dark aura users numbered greater than them multiple times over with each passing moment. Akki and Aurora battled long and hard, beyond being tired out, neither willing to give in. Eventually, Aurora was surrounded and killed with the remainder of the city folk.
Akki ordered her new army to spread out among their world and the others with aura users to seek out and kill Aurora's daughter as well as any aura user that would pose a threat to her authority.
Time passed, and one by one, every ally Akki's mother and grandmother made fell and became extinct. Every light aura user they found was mercilessly killed in cold blood if they refused to join Akki.
Akki searched many other worlds, attacking each one when she did not get the answer she wanted; the location of her niece. She wouldn't be satisfied until she was sure Kira was dead. It wouldn't be until then she wouldn't feel threatened, and be able to claim leadership for herself like she always wanted to.
